Food Dehydrator

My mom gave me her food dehydrator and I am really excited to start preserving food and dehydrating fruits and vegetables! My first attempt was of course banana chips. I really thought it was going to be a long process but it wasn’t! Its kinda like a crock pot, almost, you do need to check it every few hours and switch the trays around, but its very much “set it and forget it” I started with 6 bananas that made 3 trays with 2 bananas on each.

I did learn that I need to slice the bananas a little thinner. This would cut the drying time down and allow them to become more chip like and not so chewy.

I started at 630 in the evening thinking that it will take 6 hours. That was going to be perfect timing because Chase gets off work at 11 pm so it was going to be right before we go to bed. Not, it was about 18 hours later. They are done now!

I’m very happy with how they turned out! I’ll do it again soon! I started blueberries this morning; it says they will take 12 to 24 hours… I’m thinking 24 hours!

Thursday evenings!

Every Thursday we have made sure we are sitting in front of the TV to watch Burn Notice and what other shows are on before and after. We have all the seasons on DVD and plan to keep watching it until they stop airing it.

I started this tradition with Chases family before we were married. I would rush over for dinner and Burn Notice! I'm kinda proud of this because I have heard that many couples wouldn't hang out with their in-laws without their partner.  I find this quite the opposite with our family. I love spending time with my in-laws. If Chase can't be with me that just means I'm the center of attention. HaHaHa!  I loved those nights and the memories we made. Now its a firm date night with us. Even if we both are falling asleep we watch it.
